Common Issues

Plex is not working on my smart TV

  • Why is this happening? Plex has stopped supporting several older smart TV's. For a detailed overview click here.
  • How can I fix it? Devices running earlier webOS versions must be set to Allow Insecure Connections in the TV app settings and the Plex Media Server must be set to Preferred* for the Secure Connections preference.

Nothing is showing up in the mobile app

  • Why is this happening? And, how can I fix it?
    • It's possible the server is down, you can check the server status either at the top of this page at https://status.dark-water.net. If it is down you are welcome to reach out to me, though I have likely already been alerted by the uptime monitor and actively working on a solution.
    • It's possible that the server got reset, and you need to re-pin your libraries to your home screen. To do this, click on the left bar menu (usually an icon with three horizontal bars in the top left) and in that menu click More (in the top right) and then click edit (in the top right). From here, you should see all libraries you have access to and can select which ones you want pinned to your main menu.
    • Otherwise, there might be something wrong with your app or device, and you may need to uninstall and reinstall the Plex app.
    • Otherwise, never hesitate to reach out, I'm always happy to help.
